An Evening of Dance and Discussion - (Not Just for Women with Cancer)

Open to All Women (not just for women with cancer)
Friday, September 19, 6:30-9:00 pm (light dinner included)
Club Fit, Jefferson Valley
Free. Pre-registration is required. To register, call Support Connection, 914-962-6402

Bring a friend and “step in line” for a fun and informative evening of line dancing, refreshments, and insightful women’s health education. It’s free and includes a light dinner at the Club Fit Café in Jefferson Valley.

First, Judith Leger, a Woman’s Health Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience helping women tune into their health care needs, will offer guidance on how to listen to your own body and how to make the most of your doctor’s visits.

You will be able to meet with representatives from both Support Connection and SHARE, who will provide information about the groups’ services. SHARE is a not-for profit organization based in New York, NY that has been providing peer-led support services free of charge to women with breast or ovarian cancer, their families and friends for 31 years.

Then “shake it up” for fun and fitness with line dancing instructor Skip Earle, an award-winning “Dance Educator” who has taught line dancing locally and nationally. From the Electric Slide to the Boot Scootin Boogie, with Skip leading the way, having two left feet and no experience is not a problem!

Support Connection is proud to present a special Toll-Free Educational Teleconference for women living with ovarian cancer, in recognition of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.  Participants will have the chance to learn new ways to enhance their health and well-being, hear the latest from a national ovarian cancer conference, and talk with others living with ovarian cancer.

In the first half of the teleconference, Cathleen O’Connor, CSMC, author and founder of StoneWater Sanctuary, will address the importance of self-care and nurturance while living with ovarian cancer. Cathleen will discuss the power of knowing your own needs and giving yourself permission to have those needs met.  She will help you tune in and learn to say yes to yourself to enhance your health and well being.

The second half of this teleconference will include highlights and information from the Eleventh Annual Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference in Washington, DC. Support Connection staff and/or volunteers who attended the conference in July 2008 will join the discussion to share what they learned from presentations by world renowned speakers, medical professionals and researchers.

Throughout the teleconference, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with one another.

Participation is free but pre-registration is required. For instructions to join the toll-free teleconference call Support Connection in advance: 914-962-6402 or 1-800-532-4290.
